What Gen2v2 Security Offers for RAIN RFID Applications

In October 2013, the management board of GS1 ratified EPC Gen2v2, a new version of the widely used Gen2 UHF RFID standard. Gen2v2 is backwards compatible with Gen2 but adds a number of new features for consumer privacy, authenticating tags and readers, tag memory management, and electronic article surveillance (EAS). These new features ease the adoption of RFID especially in application areas where the tag carries more information than only its identification.
